A New Job....

The long process of job hunting has come to a DRASTIC slow down because today I was offered a job... FINALLY! I had been working on finding a job since the middle of summer and it has finally paid off. Next week I will begin my career as a chair-side assistant for two optometrists in Fargo, ND - Dr. Renier and Dr. Hillmer. Although I will not be using my using my social work degree or license, I'm feeling very thankful to have something full-time with great hours and no holidays. This is not my ideal job so I will continue to look for something in social work, but as Jordan said earlier today, "This will be a nice, easy job that won't make you cry when you come home" which is very true. Social work can be extremely, emotionally draining which Jordan and I both experienced during my internship at MeritCare Hospital during my final semester at Concorida. I'm excited to make some money - although I have really enjoyed the semi-lazy days and being home with Jordan - ALL THE TIME... I can't say he likes it as much as me though ;)

Along with this full-time job I am teaching 3 voice students, hopefully more, and this year, I will be part of the Fargo/Moorhead Opera Company. The first Opera we will perform is "La Boheme" - I'm really enjoying being part of a large ensemble and doing a big show - I still LOVE performing.

Jordan's classes are going well, except for one particular professor who assigns a TON of group work. For the past couple of Sundays, Jordan would have a group project meeting at 7 pm and not be done until 10pm... this is all extra work that isn't even necessarily graded. So, needless to say, neither of us like this professor very much.

Tonight, Jordan and my brother, Ben, are out in a dinky little town (I don't even know where) taking the only Hunter's Safety Course that could fit into their schedules and had openings. I'm excited because that could mean some DEER MEAT in the near future - so I'm hoping they can make it back from wherever they are. :)

Also, Jordan is still lifting. Although he claims to be loosing muscle and getting smaller (not from where I'm sitting), his drive to tear and rebuild muscles is stronger than ever. He has found a new, favorite body builder - this man is about 6'6'' and weighs THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS - in other words he's a giant. Since the beginning of college, Jordan has gained 70lbs, so he figures 350lbs is a good goal to set for his maximum hugeness.... however, I have a hard time imagining a husband who would weigh about 200 lbs more than me... he'd have to be really careful not to squish me :D

Together - Jordan and I are involved in the praise team at Calvary Church in Moorhead, MN as well as college sunday school and small groups (even though I'm not in college anymore). Some of our favorite things to do together are watch M.A.S.H., watch HOUSE, watch movies, etc. :D Also Jordan loves to take me on long walks just to hold my hand and talk with me... (I only put the last phrase in there to see how often Jordan actually reads this blog) Our love for screen-based entertainment is shared with many on Monday-MOVIE NIGHTS. Jordan started movie night when he was an RA in college and we have continued the tradition. Just yesterday night, we hosted SIXTEEN college students in our apt. to watch "X-Men origins" on our large projector screen. I wish I had a picture to share with you and show you how extremely close everyone has gotten while watching movies in our apt. (or just to show you how amazing it is that we could fit that many people into our one-bedroom apt.) We didn't even have enough chairs for everyone - Jordan sat on a foot rest! It is a blast and I hope we are making people feel welcome and at home!

We are doing well - coming up on 2 years of marriage and I like that we have a little more experience (with this married thing) under our belt. We keep loving and learning. And, our amazing heavenly Father, continues to provide - over and over. We are looking forward to what God has in store for us with new jobs and finishing college.... it's exciting!

First Blog Entry....

Hi People...

I definitely do not know what I'm doing with this whole BLOG thing... so please bear with me! The only reason I am setting this up is because my best friend, Sarah Schelkoph, has a very cool blog-site. In order that I could comment on her blogs, I had to add myself to the Google club and therefore, I decided I might as well start a blog to keep the friends and family informed.

Jordan and I are living in Fargo, ND - Jordan has a year left to finish his double major in Accounting and Business Administration at NDSU. I graduated from Concordia College in May of 2009 with a degree in Social Work, this summer I took the test and became a licensed Social Worker for ND, and now, am currently on the job hunt. There are a couple promising jobs at this point, so hopefully within the next week I will know what the Lord has planned for me. Let's just say this job hunt has been a patience and faith tester. But God is good.... that is the one consistent thing in our lives - God continues to provide.

I will let you go for now as I test out this blog site and see how cool I can make it...

Until next time.

p.s. The photo is from this summer at the ND State Fair Arm Wrestling Competition where my amazing husband placed second in the left arm division.... HE'S A STUD!
