I LOVE technology! There are so many things in this world that make our lives easier. For instance, dishwashers, car lifts, MP3 players, amazing surgeries and treatments for diseases, SPACESHIPS (crazy), laptops, the internet (especially facebook), all make my life much more enjoyable!
While pondering life and all of these wonderful things, I think, "Wow... there are so many amazing ideas and people with very smart brains in this world... I am so glad that there are individuals to think about all of these things and make life easier."
HOWEVER..... with all this technology, I still have tires, on my Honda, that leak air. This past summer, Jordan came across a good deal; a sporty set of 4 tires for my car. We have been using them as my "summer" tires. (I am still driving on them right now... we are planning to switch to my "winter" tires over Christmas break). They have been wonderful until last week. It became bitterly cold, and, as we all know, when the temperature goes down, we have to watch our tires to make sure they don't loose too much air. Last week, Jordan noticed that my front left tire was low. The challenge with these little, sporty tires is that when the tire looks only a little low... it is probably REALLY LOW. ( I was supposed to be checking the air once a week... which I hadn't done since this summer).
Anyway, my journeys (notice how it is PLURAL) to the air pumps begin. Number one, each day was FREEZING outside, with nasty wind. Number two, I lost the cap to my tire's air nozzle (thankfully, Kate Schelkoph, a good friend, had an extra in her car). Number three, AIR PUMPS DON'T WORK WHEN IT IS NEGATIVE 30 WINDCHILL OUTSIDE. And number four, my tire kept leaking air. (Many of you know where this is going).
To make a long story short - I drove on my tire when it was flat, Jordan took it into Tires Plus and they told him that I had cracked the rim on the tire because I drove on it... WHILE IT WAS FLAT. So, currently I am driving with a spare.
I am not telling you this to rant that it is stupid what happened... I'll admit that I should have been watching my tires more closely. BUT -
I do want to VENT about our technology.... WHY IN THE WORLD TO HAVE TO CHECK THE AIR PRESSURE IN MY TIRES WHEN IT IS SOOOO COLD WHILE WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY TO GO TO THE MOON?!?!?!?!?
Can't we come up with a non-leaking tire? Or why do we have to use air? Can't there be another substance to fill the tires that won't leak when the weather changes?
just saying....
Anyway, I do not have the brain power to think of a good invention for this, but I ask that you tell all of your brainy friends come up with an idea to save the world a lot of heartache and frustration... FROM FLAT AND AIR-LEAKING TIRES!
p.s. I'm not angry.... anymore ;) hope you enjoy and can relate!

Winter is here!
Hello Family and Friends -
I apologize for the long time with no blog. Working my full-time job and part-time job, plus teaching voice lessons has been keeping me plenty busy ;)
BUT -
This week at work is one of many weeks that Dr. Renier (the head doctor at the optometry office), is gone for the week. This means few patients and way too much time to clean.... THUS... I have time to blab about life.
Jordan is in the midst of "dead week" for school and next week is finals for this semester. It is hard to believe that he will be begin his last semester of his undergraduate degrees in January. Although we are excited for the future, we also have some large decisions to make in the month of January. Jordan has been offered a job in Minot, but he is also considering continuing his education for a Masters and Doctorate in Accounting (he is thinking that being a college professor sounds kinda cool). The difficulty is that Jordan does not have a deep desire for any specific career path but he is looking at options and trying to decide which will best support the future Rodgers family. We have been doing lots of praying but could use your prayers as well. Pray for peace and guidance as we attempt to make this rather large decision.
In the midst of this stress - Jordan continues to build muscles and gain weight. His latest accomplishment in the weight room was benching 405lbs - - - I know - - - HE'S A BEAST! And I enjoy bragging about him.
Not only is he a strong, manly man (that was for you honey) but he has also come up with THE BEST CHRISTMAS/ANNIVERSARY PRESENT EVER! This year, on our 2nd wedding anniversary, we will be getting all dressed up in our wedding garb and we will be having a little photo shoot with Gemar Photography in Minot. I AM SO EXCITED to have some artsy, fun, and romantic photos of us.... and yes... Jordan did come up with this all by himself... I cried when he told me about it. Needless to say.... I am really looking forward to my present this year.
Thanksgiving was a BLAST. Jordan and I spent the Thanksgiving holiday with my family this year. We spent a day up in Bottineau visiting Dad's side of the family, and a day down in Underwood visiting Mom's side of the family. Also - Mom and I made our very first homemade pumpkin pies AND crusts! We were nervous, but the process was very successful... and we have pictures to prove it!
Christmas this year will be spent with the Rodgers family. I am especially looking forward to this Christmas break because my boss at the optometry office gave me the whole week off between Christmas and New Years! THANK YOU LORD! So now we can spend some needed quality time with family... really looking forward to it.
Well - I think that is about it for now. Pray for Jordan, as he makes his decision, and also pray that he continues to be patient with his wife :D I tend to get tired and crabby from working so much and the cold, winter months do not help my poor attitude at all! But God is good - ALL THE TIME...
Oh, that reminds me - THE VOLVO IS FIXED! We were so sick of trying to fix the car in the parking lot that we borrowed a friend's pickup and car trailer (Thanks Aaron and Katie) and drove it to the Rodgers' farm over Thanksgiving break. Dad Rodgers was able to fix it, COMPLETELY, and drive it back to Fargo this past weekend. We are very thankful (and I am very thankful to have seat warmers again while going to church on Sunday mornings).
May God bless you in special ways during this Christmas season.... until next time!
p.s. I will post pictures later :D
