What does Wal-mart on a Saturday afternoon, paper work, and broken cars all have in common?

Yet, another weekend is coming to a close. As much as I look forward to weekends, they are usually full of cleaning, errands, and stuff I have put off ALL WEEK LONG!

One activity that I especially despise is going to Wal-mart - - - ON SATURDAY AFTERNOONS! Why I continue to put myself through this torture is beyond me. Those of you who have not experienced a Wal-mart... on a Saturday afternoon, really should make time to do so. Imagine a cage FULL of squirrels, right before winter, and the squirrels are all trying to load up on as many acorns as possible before the snow falls. Only difference is that myself and nearly 500 other crazy humans must wait in line for 2 hours and then use half of our pay checks to pay for our "acorns." (I may be exaggerating a bit). Truthfully, the experience is not that bad. I am very thankful that while living in Fargo/Moorhead, we are surrounded by very kind people - making the experience at Wal-mart - - - ON SATURDAY AFTERNOONS, bearable.

Another thing I have been putting off is working on my LOAN PAPERWORK (I'm using capital letters to express how not fun these things are to me). Now that I am actually trying to get myself completely organized and ready to make the payments, I am unable to find some of the paperwork. Go figure - lol.

Finally, the other frustrating thing that life has thrown at us has been the sickness of our Volvo. Between classes, homework, lifting, bible study, praise team, and a needy wife ;), Jordan has been trying to diagnose and cure our beautiful car. However, after two new parts, and another afternoon of working on the car - Jordan still has no idea what could be wrong. He is currently spending some time on the internet trying to get a game plan.

You may be asking, "Why is Jocelyn complaining to us on her blog?"
Because I want to share with you how God can change perspectives on even the little, daily, irritating things.
1) Wal-mart... I am so thankful Jordan and I have the resources to purchase food and clothing without worry.
2) Loan paperwork... Because of my husbands strong will to budget and with some amazing monetary provisions that the Lord has provided us with, we believe we will be able to pay off ALL of my student loans when the payments begin! God is good - so good!
3) Sick Car... My Honda is running oh-so smoothly. It is not the prettiest car or the youngest car, but it is the one I drive and I need this car DAILY. Whereas, Jordan is able to take the bus to class and then hitch rides from various friends when needed. AND... WE HAVE TWO CARS.... again we are very blessed!

Moral of my blog - CHECK OUT YOUR OWN PERSPECTIVE (I capitalized this because of its importance) - look at life from a different angle - you may be surprise at how good it really is :D

p.s. check out this pic from movie night!!!! still full, fun and going strong!

  1. Oh my GOSH! I still can't believe you fit that many people into your living rooms. :) And I know how you feel about Walmart on Saturdays. It's actually the same way here at the BX, which is basically the same...only larger. EVERYONE comes out on the weekend and I HATE going in the back where the stereo equipment and musical instruments are. Parents leave their kids back there while they shop....You do the math. Lol.

PS. LOVED the squirrel analogy. :D

  2. too funny! we also hate walmart on the weekends, but sometimes you just cannot avoid it. we tend to favor the moorhead walmart if we can because it seems to be much quieter, except they do not have self-check out which is a bummer sometimes. love your perspective on life!
